In her vision of engaging the community, she initiated an annual event called Little Hearts Marathon (LHM) for helping children suffering from Cardiac Diseases and who cannot afford expensive surgeries. This event was initiated to spread awareness for the prevention of cardiac diseases in children and raise funds for them. With the massive success of 5 editions of LHM, the hospital started with a dedicated cardiac surgery center followed by a Bone Marrow Transplant set up to benefit the underprivileged in the Society.
During the Covid-19 pandemic situation, she played a major role in relief and rehabilitation programs. It included a 100-bedded COVID-19 ward with all the supporting critical care equipment at Children’s and Maternity hospital, a hot meal and grocery hampers for the needy, with 2 crore food hampers and 3.5 crore food servings were arranged in a short span of 8 weeks.
She devoted herself to the development of Public Health Pan-India by leading various projects such as mobile health in rural areas, and women and child healthcare in rural, semi-urban, and urban areas. She is also working closely with UNICEF Maharashtra and established the State Centre of Excellence to tackle Malnutrition at the Children’s hospital.
She dedicated a nodal center for Clubfoot treatment in Maharashtra, a dedicated clinic for Cancer, Malnutrition, HIV, TB, Epilepsy, Occupational therapy, MDVI Clinic, IVF Center, Nutrition & Rehabilitation Center, etc.
With her efforts; Wadia Children’s Hospital hosts the largest NICU in the country with 155 beds and more than 40 Pediatric services. Under her leadership the hospital has established Pediatric Cardiology, Complex Pediatric Surgeries, Neurology and Neurosurgery, Nephrology, Hemat-Oncology, and Bone Marrow Transplant, thus providing comprehensive treatment to all children under one roof
Dr. Minnie also overcame a challenge wherein she admitted the conjoined twin babies, Riddhi Siddhi, to Wadia Hospital who were rejected by other major hospitals in Mumbai, and created history by saving their lives.
Dr. Minnie initiated the ‘Little Hearts Marathon’ - for children who were born with congenital heart disease. This marathon generated funds to set up cardiac OT.
She also initiated Hospital-On-Wheels, a dental project, which helped underprivileged people all across India to receive dental treatment. It started from seeing 300-400 people in a day and the figures reached 1000 in no time.
Under her excellent leadership and sustainable vision Wadia Hospital, a charitable semi-government organization has managed to serve quality, safe and affordable healthcare to the underprivileged Women and Children of our community.
